IEP for Andy:
Present Level of
Academic Achievement and Functional Performance: Andy uses a variety of
sounds, gestures, signs, and picture/symbols to communicate with his family. He
is very social and enjoys parallel play. Andy does not communicate vocally in
the classroom, but does use some gestures. At school Andy will sign, but only
with prompts.
Annual Goal: Andy
will increase expressive language production by using a variety of
communication methods in the classroom, including sign language, gestures, communication
boards, pictures, and simple voice output devices during four out of five
opportunities.
The frequent use of these AT methods will allow Andy to choose to communicate nonverbally in manners that he will feel comfortable. They also can allow him to communicate with a larger range of people.

I like that you offered a variety of options for Andy to use. This will allow for him to begin using the lowest tech device, and work his way to using a higher tech device with more options.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your response to my post! I figured that it is always best to offer a variety of options for completing the same goals so that the students can use what works best for them!
